In exactly one week we will be graduating from high school and moving on to college. This seems so strange; graduation to me has always seemed like more of an idea rather than an actual even that would take place in my life. It has always seemed so far away but now there are only seven days separating us from the real world. Soon we will all be getting more permanent jobs, going to grad school, buying a place of our own, and moving on in our lives and becoming true adults. I must say that I will be sad to see my childhood get left behind but I think it is time to move on and I am confident that I am ready.

Moving On
This past few weeks we have spent much time reflecting on our years in high school and the young adults we have become. At times it is hard to believe the fact that we are done with our childhood and are moving into the real world. I think back on all the memories I had, good and bad, all the friends I made, all the activities I was involved with, and all the lessons I learned. I especially realized how much I have matured during my four years of high school when I opened my Letter to Self written during my freshman year. Some of the important things in my life, the people I talked about, and the activities I enjoyed during my freshman year are now insignificant. Some of them I had nearly forgotten about. I find it fascinating when I am able to reflect on my past and am able to realize a particular event or series of events that changed my preferences, friendships, or values. It makes we wonder what will remain important, what will be forgotten, and what new things will be introduced in my life 4 years from now.
Working on the Senior Memoir Books these past weeks has been somewhat of a challenge to me. Not only was I focused on other things, such as AP tests and graduation, but I was a bit reluctant to reflect upon my childhood and my years in high school. It is sad to see these fun-filled years come to an end. But my experiences and the lessons I learned have allowed to me begin a new chapter of my life, college. As the door to my childhood and high school closes, the door to college and my future life as an adult opens. I am ready to dive in and make the most of every opportunity that presents itself to me.

1 Week
Initially when I first began this year, like many other’s I thought it would be a relief to finish up high school and leave, though upon reaching the last weeks of school it does not seem like it’s over, I had the previous filling I would have some sort of new feeling that school is finally over and I would have not to look back on. Though upon writing up my Senior Memoir, I noticed just how much time has passed. From freshman year to senior year to has been a nonstop journey… at least it was, now we have come to the end. This will be as I can guess our greatest transition that we have yet made. Ready?

Reflection
As I sit here on a Wednesday night, it suddenly strikes me... we graduate in two weeks. For me, it is something that I have looked forward too for so long, that now, when it finally arrives, I am unsure of how to react. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely excited for the future and for college and for everything else that it will bring, but there's also another part of me who feels somewhat sad at leaving behind everything I've known for the past eighteen years of my life. In a few short months, I will be leaving everything I have known; family, friends, school, and everything else that makes this place my home. Graduation is a bittersweet feeling for me, though I know that when May 25 comes, I will be proud to walk across that stage knowing that I have many things to look forward to in the future. So what are your thoughts towards graduation? Am I the only one feeling this way, or is there a part of you who feels somewhat sad at the thought of leaving everything back home? One thing that I know for sure though is that I am ready to embark on the next path of my life, and I look forward to seeing what the future has in store!
